A man wanted in connection with a weapon robbery case was apprehended by the police in Greater Noida after a brief exchange of gunfire. The accused, identified as Keshav Kumar, was arrested on Sunday night, according to Uttar Pradesh police.
The incident occurred when a police team was on patrol and received information that the wanted individual was in the vicinity. Upon attempting to stop the suspect, he opened fire at the officers, prompting the police to retaliate, resulting in the accused sustaining a gunshot injury.
The man had been sought by the authorities since 2021, when he allegedly robbed a gun from a security guard. A reward of ₹10,000 was offered for his capture. Currently, Keshav Kumar is receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
This arrest comes after another incident in May, where a gangster carrying a ₹50,000 bounty was captured in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, following a firefight with a police patrolling team.
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
