Gujrat 20-July-2023 : A Tragic Accident on Ahmedabad’s ISKCON Flyover: Nine Lives Lost, Including Two Policemen, in a Hit-and-Run Involving a Jaguar.
According to a report from news agency ANI, a heart-wrenching accident occurred at the ISKCON flyover on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) highway, resulting in the death of at least nine people, including two police officers. Thirteen others were injured in the multiple car crash that took place around 1.15 am on Thursday, as confirmed by Gujarat police.
The authorities stated that the ‘hit-and-run’ incident involved a Jaguar, and the driver of the car, identified as Satya Patel, also suffered injuries. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the flyover near the ISKCON temple has been temporarily closed to the public.
Media reports indicated that the accident ensued when an SUV collided with a dumper from behind, causing chaos on the road. Subsequently, the luxury car, travelling at over 100 kmph, plowed into a crowd that had gathered at the site following the initial collision between the two vehicles. Among the deceased, youths from Botad and Surendranagar were also reported, as per news agency PTI.
This appalling incident has left the city in mourning and raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter measures to prevent such devastating accidents in the future. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the collision and bring those responsible to justice.
