In a predawn operation, Army personnel stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt from the neighboring border, resulting in a gunfight that led to the demise of two terrorists. The incident unfolded in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Within the Degwar sector, troops detected the clandestine movement of the terrorists as they endeavored to cross into Indian territory under the cover of darkness. Engaging them in a confrontation, a gun battle ensued during the early hours of the day.
While it is believed that two terrorists lost their lives during the skirmish, their bodies have not yet been recovered from the scene.
According to Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Jammu-based defense, the joint efforts of the Army and police were instrumental in confronting the infiltrating terrorists within the Garhi Battalion area around 2 am. The first terrorist was swiftly neutralized, while the second attempted to retreat back across the LoC but was intercepted, hit, and witnessed falling to the ground.
The movement of these individuals had intensified in the vicinity of Degwar Terva. The operation is currently ongoing, and further details remain to be disclosed.
