In the city of Haldwani, located in the state of Uttarakhand, a chilling murder case has unfolded, leaving the local community in shock and disbelief. The victim, Ankit Chauhan, a 30-year-old businessman, was found dead inside his car, parked by the side of the road near the Teenpani area. Initially, the police suspected his death to be due to snake bites, but upon further investigation, a sinister plot began to emerge.
According to Hindustan Times, the police have booked five people in connection with the incident. A snake charmer has been arrested, and the authorities are actively searching for Ankit Chauhan’s girlfriend, Mahi Arya, along with three others, including her friend Deep Kandpal and two house helps. The police have revealed that Ms. Arya allegedly orchestrated the murder plot with the assistance of her friends, hiring the snake charmer to carry out the deadly act.
As part of their thorough investigation, the police examined Mr. Chauhan’s call records, which led them to Mahi Arya. Further inquiry exposed her connections with the snake charmer, Ramesh Nath, based in Uttar Pradesh. With the snake charmer’s arrest, a grim and unsettling truth came to light – it was no accident. Instead, Mr. Chauhan’s death was a result of a well-planned and malevolent act.
Postmortem reports confirmed that the businessman died due to snake venom, indicating that he was bitten twice on his leg. The incident occurred on July 14 when Ankit Chauhan visited Mahi Arya’s residence. His sister, Isha, filed the police complaint, accusing Ms. Arya and Deep Kandpal of being responsible for her brother’s tragic demise. Consequently, the Haldwani police registered an FIR against them under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

The snake charmer claimed during questioning that Mr. Chauhan’s excessive drinking and abuse towards Ms. Arya compelled her to take such a drastic and lethal step.
