As per reports from Pakistan Radio, several coaches of the Hazara Express derailed near the Sahari Railway Station in Nawabshah on Sunday, leading to the tragic deaths of 15 people and leaving dozens severely injured. The exact number of casualties may increase, as reported.
The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time. According to the report, the injured were admitted to the People’s Medical Hospital in Nawabshah for medical treatment. Authorities have stated that the reason behind the derailment is yet to be determined. According to a report from Dawn News TV, the train was en route from Karachi to Rawalpindi.
While speaking to the media in Lahore, Railway and Aviation Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique stated that relief and rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. He mentioned that initial reports indicate the loss of 15 lives and multiple injuries. This incident is deeply saddening, and the primary focus at the moment is to save the lives of the affected individuals. A thorough investigation will be conducted after this. Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, expressed condolences for the deceased and instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Nawabshah to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured.
