In the aftermath of the recent communal clashes in Haryana’s Nuh that tragically resulted in the loss of six lives, the state administration has taken a decisive step by launching a ‘bulldozer action’ in the town of Tauru. The operation, which lasted for approximately four hours, was executed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority. The main objective was to clear more than 200 illegal shanties, which were reportedly housing migrants, in the area. The operation was conducted by teams from the Rapid Action Force, including the Women Police Force.
The ‘bulldozer action’ was carried out under the directives of Ajit Balaji Joshi, the Chief Administrator of Haryana Urban Development Authority, as a crucial component of the ongoing “Remove Encroachments” campaign. Sanjeev Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), was also present at the site to oversee the operation and ensure its smooth execution.
However, the operation was not without its challenges. Some women in the vicinity attempted to stage a protest against the encroachment drive. Unfortunately, their efforts were thwarted by the presence of the security forces at the scene.
The administration’s decision to undertake this action was fueled by information that had been received regarding migrants from Bangladesh who were allegedly residing in the area without legal authorization. Additionally, there were reports suggesting their involvement in various criminal activities, further prompting the need for this clearance operation.
The recent communal clashes in Nuh, which ignited on July 31 and subsequently spread to Gurugram, were sparked by an attempt to halt a procession organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in six fatalities, including two home guards and a cleric. The violence left the region in a state of turmoil and raised concerns about the broader implications of such incidents.
In a related development, a shop situated near the residence of one of the civilians who lost their lives in the Nuh incident was vandalized by unidentified individuals in Panipat. The shop, which sold chicken, fell victim to the miscreants who also caused damage to two nearby vehicles. The local police promptly responded to the situation by deploying personnel to the area to maintain law and order.
The ‘bulldozer action’ near Haryana’s Nuh stands as a notable step taken by the state administration in response to the communal clashes. It reflects an effort to address the issue of illegal settlements and encroachments, which are often linked to various forms of social unrest and criminal activities. The incident serves as a reminder of the complex challenges faced by local authorities in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
