National, August 6, 2023: Babar Azam, the star batsman, has been showcasing exceptional form and intends to maintain his run-scoring prowess for the Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League 2023. He considers this tournament as a valuable experience for himself and the emerging young talents within the league, serving as valuable preparation ahead of major upcoming competitions.
In his debut appearance in the Lanka Premier League, the Pakistani captain eagerly anticipates his involvement in the matches and aims to refine his performance in readiness for the imminent series and tournaments.
“I’m excited to participate in this league for the first time and play all the matches. Joining the team a few days ago, I was elated to meet my fellow teammates. Our team comprises young players, and everyone is eager to give their best, enhance their skills, and contribute effectively to the franchise,” Babar Azam expressed.
Maintaining an optimistic mindset, he affirmed his commitment to the Colombo Strikers. Highlighting the mix of senior and junior players within the team, Babar Azam praised the synergy he shares with his colleagues, particularly mentioning his rapport with Dickwella. With a significant volume of cricket slated for Asia, including the Asia Cup, the Afghanistan series, and the World Cup, my focus is on preparation through adjusting to conditions and confronting adept spinners,” he concluded.
Babar Azam’s presence on the Colombo Strikers is led by Niroshan Dickwella. The Lanka Premier League 2023 features other participating teams such as Dambulla Aura, captained by Kusal Mendis, Galle Titans under Dasun Shanaka’s leadership, B-Love Kandy captained by Wanindu Hasaranga, and defending champions Jaffna Kings, led by veteran Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera.
