OnePlus is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated foldable smartphone, which is speculated to be named OnePlus Open. The device was first teased at the Cloud 11 launch event earlier this year in February. Leaked design renders have given insights into its possible color options, including black, gold, and green. Various reports have also surfaced, revealing the purported specifications of OnePlus’ first book-style foldable smartphone.
According to a report from SmartPrix, tipster Arvind suggests that the OnePlus V Fold or OnePlus Open is likely to be launched on August 29. While the official name of the device is yet to be confirmed, renowned tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has indicated that the OnePlus Open is the most probable moniker. The tipster also mentioned that the phone is expected to excel in terms of display quality, camera performance, speaker output, and overall hardware. Additionally, it is said to boast an appealing design and texture.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Open is rumored to feature a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED inner screen along with a 6.3-inch AMOLED outer display, both supporting a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the device is expected to be an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
As for the camera setup, leaks suggest that the OnePlus Open will house a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel sensor with a periscope lens on the rear panel. On the front, it is likely to sport two 32-megapixel front-facing camera sensors.
Leaked renders of the OnePlus Open showcase a distinct lychee-like leather finish, complemented by a large circular camera module placed at the center. The cameras, developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, are expected to incorporate a periscope lens for enhanced zoom capabilities, promising high-quality zoomed-in images with reduced noise and loss. The OnePlus Open is anticipated to be available in black, gold, and green color options.
